Project Description

All across the United States, a new kind of landmark is appearing in neighborhoods – encouraging both reading and community. Little Free Libraries, hand-built birdhouse-sized structures, provide a place to swap books with neighbors. This fast-growing nationwide phenomenon boasts over 100,000 Little Free Libraries worldwide! The premise is simple: Take a book, leave a book. A Free Little Library was installed on a Bison Pop-Up Park as part of The Dalles Main Street Organization in Oregon. Bison Pop-Up Parks make it easy to transform ordinary urban areas into vibrant public spaces. The Bison Pop-Up Park at this site was constructed using Bison 2x2 Ipê Smooth Wood Tiles laid in a parquet pattern supported by Bison Adjustable Versadjust Pedestals. The installation of the Free Little Library further encourages people to sit in the park and to read and interact with other members of the community!
